We don’t update the blog very often. But to recap the last few months-
Our split 7″ with Thou came out a couple of months ago. We covered “July” by Low, with our amazing friend Lisa Papineau on vocals. Thou covered “4th of July” by Soundgarden. Individual copies are sold out, but I think there are a few subscriptions left for the whole series at Hell Comes Home. Also, you can hear it on Bandcamp.
We just played a few shows with Sleep, including one at the Fox Theatre in Oakland, which was crazy. Here’s video.
Jon’s other band, Tigon, has a new record on the way and it rules. There’s three songs here.
And this summer, we’re recording a new full-length.

I’m bummed out to say this, but — after four years and a lot of shows and records, Total Fest will be Pace’s last show with us.
Jason’s been in the band since day one and his playing and writing are an important part of everything we’ve done, but he’s ready to do other things with his Sundays and Tuesdays. There’s no drama, we’re all still buddies. (though don’t expect us to pay you the $70 we owe you, man)
On the good news front, Jon Howell from Tigon is joining up on guitar. Like Pace, Jon is tall, midwestern (more or less), carless, and finds Magma listenable. We are really stoked to have him aboard. First show with Jon will be sometime in September, and we’ll drag him into the hope-extinguishing process of writing new songs ASAP. Expect a new record sometime no later than 2015.
Jason Pace, you tall beerful bastard, we salute you!

The Japan quake is has left us stunned and feeling useless. To try and help a bit, we’re going to donate 100% of the next 2 weeks of merch sales to relief efforts. Not proceeds — sales. So 100% of the money you pay us will get donated.
So if you’ve been meaning to buy a record or a shirt, now is a good time.
