Tracking, day 2

April 13, 2009

Finished basics this afternoon. Struck the mics, moved everything back where it was before we moved everything, re-set up the recording gear, did guitar overdubs all night.

Tracking, day 1

April 12, 2009

Got most of our basics done today.

Miller had food poisoning.

We had lunch at the mall food court. In the middle of downtown San Francisco, that is where we ended up eating lunch.

My head feels like a balloon.

Lists

April 9, 2009

There’s my list of stuff to pack tonight:

Well, about half of the list. Also, Kiss Alive II.

In closing, these Ziptape things are the shit for labelling cables. I roll RW51.

Recording imminent, and release news release

April 8, 2009

On Friday, we’ll set up shop in our glamorous rehearsal space and start tracking.  Everyone is stoked about these new songs. We’re planning to update the website/blog pretty often as we go, so start pressing Reload.

If all goes well the record will be a full-length and should be available late this summer.

We had planned to release this next record ourselves — it worked well enough for the Turk Street EP.  But we’ve also been talking to Paul from The Perpetual Motion Machine, a cool little label in Virginia, about the possibility of him releasing it instead.

After months of delicate negotiations in which both parties repeatedly threatened to walk away, it’s on!  Yes!  It’ll be an LP+CD release and should be beautiful. We couldn’t be more excited about working with Paul & PMM.

That’s it.  Time to organize microphones and make lists.

Recording diary: we’re not recording yet

In a few days, we’ll set up shop in our rehearsal space again and start recording our next opus. Recording is TOTALLY RAD if you’re like me, and pretty boring otherwise.  But we’ll try to post some pics and videos as we go anyway.

We’ve spent the last week or two fine-tuning the new songs, and by “fine-tuning” I mean “showing up to practice too drunk to play” and “ordering a new A/D converter with next-day shipping.”

Here’s a picture of me practicing scales:

Also, everyone loves my Earache sticker. 1991!
