Pics, video

November 26, 2008

The Helms Alee show last week was great. They totally killed.

Our friend Peter Schafer was in from the east coast, and shot some damn fine photos of our set (on film, even). Make your browser big and have a look.

Also, Jen Farmer shot some nice Helms Alee photos – those are here.

And here’s video of our last song – TTJ. I would have recorded the Helms Alee set but I was too busy watching.

Time to go pack my undies and sleeping mask. Tour!

Great show. Early Show. FREE show. Monday @ the Hemlock.

November 14, 2008

This is the no-excuses Kowloon Walled City show. You pretty much HAVE to attend.

Why?

It’s early. KWC goes on at 7:30 and the show will be over by 9:30. You can be home in your jammies watching Law and Order or whateverthefuck by 10pm.

It’s a GREAT BILL (besides the opener). Helms Alee are possibly the best new band of 2008. When they end up on the cover of SPIN, don’t you want to be able to say you “saw them when they played a free show with a friend’s band”? Don’t miss this sure-fire gloating opportunity.

It’s fucking FREE, you cheap bastard. You can spend your hard-earned luchre on beer and merch.

So please come out to the Hemlock this MONDAY, November 17, at 7pm and support us and Helms Alee. I promise it will kick ass.

Is It Metal?

November 12, 2008

On the heels of the Thrasher story comes a nice li’l writeup in one of our favorite local free weeklies. Dan Alvarez of the San Francisco Bay Guardian buttonholed us after we got off stage at the record release show when we were still a little amped. Amusing repartee ensued.

Kowloon Walled City
Sounds like metal, looks like metal …

Prodigious grooves, indeed!

THRASHER’D!

November 10, 2008

For reasons unknown to us, the good people at Thrasher did a two-page spread on Kowloon Walled City in the latest (December) issue. It’s pretty sweet. Jason wrote the hilarious question(able) responses, and it features a pretty sweet live photo by Scotty McDonald.

Of course we encourage you to go buy the thing from your local newsstand, but until then, you can check out the PDF here.

Oh, and don’t forget we’re playing a FREE, EARLY SHOW at the Hemlock with Helms Alee, one week from today!

Big large thanks

October 13, 2008

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Turk Street record release show at Annie’s on Saturday! The turnout was better than we had any right to expect. Apart from some gear malfunctions (from which Loving Thunder saved us by loading us an amp!), the show was pretty much an unqualified success. So, at the risk of belaboring the point, THANK YOU.

Also, if you missed us this Saturday, or if you just can’t get enough K Dubya C, come check us out this Friday night at the Stork Club in Oakland. We’re pretty stoked to be playing with Mammatus, and we’re hoping they haven’t kicked the wizard out of the band.

Nice Turk Street write-up from Aquarius

October 4, 2008

Andee from Aquarius Records had some nice things to say about our EP in the latest Aquarius newsletter. If you’ve ever read the newsletter before, you know of its epic nature, so I’ll quote the review in its entirety here instead. If you want to see it in its natural habitat, go here and scroll and scroll.
